Speller Earns PSAC East & ECAC Athlete of the Week Honors
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – West Chester's Porscha Speller (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) earned PSAC East Athlete of the Week in addition to obtaining ECAC's Player of the Week for Division II by helping the Golden Rams in a pair of home victories against Millersville and Lock Haven.
Speller was spectacular, accumulating 27 points, 11 steals, 10 rebounds, and seven assists in the two PSAC East wins.
The Lancaster native tied a team-high 14 points, while also registering eight steals, seven rebounds, and five assists against Lock Haven on Saturday. Speller's eight steals finished tied for second in program history in a single contest. The junior guard is the first player to tally eight steals since Megan Stewart back in 2009.
In a win over Millersville, she contributed 13 points to go along with three rebounds and three steals. The majority of her points came from the free throw line, going 9 of 12.
Speller currently ranks sixth in the PSAC in both steals per contest (2.3) and assists (4.4).
This is her second PSAC East Athlete of the Week nomination and first for ECAC in the 2016-17 season.
