Boehner and Smick Team Up to Lead West Chester over Mansfield, 82-72

WEST CHESTER, Pa. –West Chester's Camden Boehner (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) poured in 22 points and Tori Smick (Pilesgrove, N.J./Woodstown) added 21 to secure an 82-72 victory over visiting Mansfield inside Hollinger Field House Saturday afternoon. West Chester (9-10, 9-6 PSAC) went on a 12-3 run midway through the fourth quarter to secure the win against Mansfield (4-15, 2-13 PSAC). Head coach Kiera Wooden's squad outscored the Mountaineers 25-14 in the final quarter. The Golden Rams attacked the paint, seizing a 40-12 advantage in the trenches. Additionally, West Chester shot a season best 57.7 percent from the field (30-52) and 42.9 percent behind the arc (6-14). Despite the large discrepancy in the paint, the Mountaineers did most of its damage from the perimeter by going 48 percent from downtown (12-25). Mansfield's Brielle Kelly did finish with 27 points in the contest. Overall, there were four members of West Chester's squad who reached double-figures in the scoring column. Boehner was nearly flawless from the field this afternoon, shooting 80 percent from the field (8-10) and perfect from three-point range (2-2). The junior added five rebounds and a team-high four assists as well. Smick on the other hand finished with her third double-double of the season, contributing 21 points go along with 10 rebounds in the back-and-forth affair. Meanwhile, junior Madison Torresin (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) recorded her seventh double-double of the season. Torresin provided 12 points, three steals, and tied Smick for a team-high 10 boards. For the fifth consecutive game, fellow junior Porscha Speller (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) found herself in double-figures. Speller accumulated 15 points, three boards, and a pair of dishes. The Golden Rams have now won four out of their last five heading into next week. Wooden's team remains in second place in the PSAC East, two games behind Shippensburg. West Chester turns toward the road for a two-game swing, beginning with Bloomsburg inside Nelson Field House on Wednesday, February 1st at 5:30 p.m. Additional Notes West Chester has a commanding 57-10 lead in the all-time series record against Mansfield, which first originated in the 1982-83 season. The Golden Rams are currently on a 20-game winning streak against the Mountaineers.The first time a pair of West Chester players captured 20 plus points in a game since a win against Cheyney earlier in the month.
