Long’s Double-Double Not Enough as West Chester Falls at Bloomsburg, 83-73

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Bloomsburg captured sole possession of fourth place in the PSAC East with a victory over visiting West Chester inside Nelson Field House Wednesday evening, 83-73. In the opening moments of the second half, West Chester (9-12, 7-9 PSAC) hit a jumper to bring the game within a bucket, 34-32. However, the Huskies (12-8, 8-8 PSAC) would go on a 28-8 run over the next ten minutes of play to give Bloomsburg its largest lead of the game. The Golden Rams tried to get back into the game, but their shooting woes were ultimately the deciding factor. Despite a plus seven in the rebounding category, West Chester was unable to capitalize on second chance opportunities. The team shot 39.4 percent from the field (26-66) and 21.7 percent from behind the arc (5-23). Jr., G Tyrell Long (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) continues to be a vital part on both ends of the court. The junior posted a team-high 19 points, 16 rebounds, three steals, and two blocks. Long continues to crash the glass matching a career-best 16 boards, six of which came on the offensive end. Meanwhile, sophomore Jackson Hyland (Avondale, Pa. / Kennett) chipped in his second consecutive double-double, producing 13 points to go along with 10 rebounds for the Golden Rams. Freshman Zach Bare (Reiserstown, Md./St. Paul's) added 18 points and four boards. Bare knocked down two of the team's five shots from downtown in the contest. West Chester completes its two-game swing next Wednesday by taking on PSAC East opponent Cheyney inside Cope Hall at 5:30 p.m. The women's game will be immediately after at 7:30 p.m.
