Vannicolo Earns Co-PSAC’s Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Sr., Colin Vannicolo (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) received the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's Men's Field Athlete of the Week award with DJ Horton of IUP for their efforts last week. Vannicolo captured the top spot in the heptathlon at the 19th Annual Bucknell Bison Open & Multi's inside Gerhard Field House Saturday. The senior generated a total of 4,822 points to hit an NCAA provisional. Vannicolo gathered the first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time 8.58 and tied for the top spot in the pole vault at 14 feet, nine inches. The Marple Newtown product came away second in the 1,000-meter dash at 2:52.32, while also being tied for second in the long jump with a score of 20 feet, seven and one fourth inches. He raced his way for third in the 60-meter dash by finishing with 7.39. Vannicolo finished fifth in the high jump at five feet, eight and three fourths inches. In terms of shot put, he came away tenth with 33 feet, 5 and three fourths inches. This marks the first award for West Chester and Vannicolo this season.
