West Chester’s Valentine & Brent Score ECAC Honors

DANBURY, Conn. – West Chester's Majesta Valentine (Wilmington, Del.) and Madison Brent (Waxhaw, NC.) of women's gymnastics scored Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) honors for Division II this week. Valentine registered her second Gymnast of the Week award for her performance in helping West Chester down visiting University of Pennsylvania, 193.400-189.350, Saturday afternoon inside Sturzebecker Health Science Center. The senior broke her own school record on the floor exercise, obtaining a 9.925. Additionally, she helped the Golden Rams break the team record for the floor exercise with a total mark of 49.025. Including the floor exercise, Valentine won three events and tied for top spot with her teammate Samantha Engle on the vault with a 9.675. She claimed the top spot on the balance beam, posting a score of 9.825. In the all-around, the senior provided a 39.150 to round out her third first place finish. Teammate, Madison Brent on the other hand captured the Coaches Choice award. The junior missed most of last season due to injury, but provided West Chester with a career-best performance on the floor. She tallied a final score of 9.8, which tied her for third in the event. This was the second honor for Valentine and the first for Brent this season. Overall, West Chester has tallied five ECAC honors in 2017.
