West Chester Finishes Third at Ken Anderson Invitational
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – West Chester claimed third in the Ken Anderson Invitational, hosted by Temple University Saturday afternoon. Temple, who hosted the meet, came away with the top team score of 193.950. The University of Pittsburgh came in a close second with a score of 193.525. West Chester finished third with 191.675, while Ursinus was fourth at 190.850. "We had a good meet, we really started off strong on floor" head coach Barbara Cordova said. The Golden Rams registered a team score of 48.625 to start the day. Majesta Valentine (Wilmington, Del.) captured first place in the event at 9.850. Valentine tied for first on the bars (9.775) and claimed the top spot in the all-around (39.075) for West Chester as well. The senior also provided third on the vault (9.750) and tied for fifth on the beam (9.7). West Chester's Madison Brent (Waxhaw, NC.) contributed a score of 9.725 on the floor, which tied for sixth. "They also had a great vault day," Cordova stated. "We had our best vault score of the year with a 48.200." Selena Swanger (Gettysburg, Pa.) finished tied for fifth on the vault (9.675) in addition to achieving fifth in the all-around (37.900). On the floor, she came away tied for sixth on the floor (9.725). Meanwhile, Meghan Chan (Northvale, N.J.) added seventh place on the vault (9.625) for a new season-high. On the bars, Myranda Marshall (Lancaster, Pa.) contributed a fifth place (9.625), while freshman Jordan Miranda (Winchester, Mass.) produced a season-high 9.525 for an eighth place finish at the invitational. Jr., Rose Wortman (Bellefonte, Pa.) managed a season-high 9.650 on the beam that tied for sixth. West Chester returns home for a matchup with Springfield College next Saturday inside Sturzebecker Health Science Center at 1 p.m.
