Women’s Cross Country Records Seven All-Academic Honors
NEW ORLEANS, LA- West Chester University's women's cross country team earned seven All-Academic honors for the 2016 cross country season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The squad first registered an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.57 for their first academic honor. West Chester ranked 36th among other qualifying Division II programs.
In addition to an All-Academic Team honor, six student-athletes also earned individual All-Academic honors.
Runners Diana Dunn (Media, Pa./Penncrest), Julia Del Grosso (Springfield, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara), Tara McLaughlin (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), Amanda Kodis (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley), Alie Smith (Shippensburg, Pa/Big Spring), and Monika Roschel (Liitz, Pa. / Warwick) all received the award for their academic success in the fall of 2016.
Dunn was also named PSAC Female Freshman of the Year for her performance on the course. She led the Golden Rams in 2016 with top ten finishes at LHU Invitational, Paul Short Invitational, Mack Cooper Invitational, and NCAA Regionals.
Also at the Mack Cooper Invitational, Kodis and Del Grosso earned themselves top 25 finishes. McLaughlin was not far behind them, placing 33rdoverall.
At the NCAA Division II Regional Championship, Roschel managed 79th at 25:45. The sophomore improved 35 spots from a season ago. Meanwhile, Smith added an 85th place finished (26:03) which improved 38 spots from last year's regional.
