Three Members of Men’s Track & Field Named All-Region

NEW ORLEANS, LA – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced today that three members of West Chester's men's track and field squad received All-Region honorees for the 2016-17 NCAA Division II indoor track & field season. West Chester's Justus Norman (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley), DeShaun Pickett (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Colin Vannicolo(Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) gathered the honors in the Atlantic region. First, Norman earned his honor for the long jump. The junior is most recently coming off Field MVP from the 2017 PSAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. On Saturday, Norman won his PSAC individual title in the long jump with a leap of 23 feet, 4 ½ inches. He followed that up with a second place finish in the triple jump on Sunday. The junior's leap of 47 feet, 11 ¾ inches was an NCAA provisional distance. Picket on the other hand was for the 60-meters. He brought an individual PSAC crown on Sunday at the tournament. Pickett won the 60m dash with a time of 6.89 seconds, hitting an NCAA provisional time in the process. He also finished fourth in the 200m, clocking a time of 21.91 seconds that was also a provisional time. Lastly, Vannicolo earned the honor for the Heptathlon. The Marple Newtown product came in first at the tournament by tallying 4,979 points, which is easily a provisional qualifying amount. Overall, 572 men captured the award from 119 different institutions.
