West Chester’s Power Earns PSAC’s Freshman of the Week
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – West Chester's red-shirt freshman Rylee Power (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) registered her first honor of her career by obtaining the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's (PSAC) Eastern Division's Freshman of the Week. Power played a significant role this week for the Golden Rams, producing a career-high 25 points to lift West Chester past Millersville on Wednesday. The Marple Newtown product shot 62.5 percent from the floor (10-16), while also being the go to player in the second half by tallying 15 of her 25 points when they needed it most. On Saturday, Power generated eight points and three rebounds in a loss to PSAC East rival Kutztown. Overall, she manufactured 33 points, eight rebounds, four assists, one block, and a steal for the Golden Rams. ? The only other freshman to earn the honor this season was Gabrielle Troisi (Norristown, Pa. / Pope John Paul II). No. 4 West Chester takes on No. 5 Bloomsburg in the opening round of the 2017 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Tournament this evening inside Hollinger Field House at 7 p.m.
