Pair of Gymnasts Collect ECAC Honors
DANBURY, Conn – West Chester finished the regular-season with eight different members of head coach Barbara Cordova's squad earning 15 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) honors for Division II. The senior duo of Majesta Valentine (Wilmington, Del.) and Selena Swanger (Gettysburg, Pennsylvania) took home awards in their final regular-season performance against Ursinus inside Sturzebecker Health Science Center on Saturday. Valentine's performance landed here Gymnast of the Week for the Golden Rams. She claimed the top spot in the vault (9.725), floor (9.875), and the all-around (39.175). She also tied for first in the bars with teammate Myranda Marshall at 9.750. The Delaware native registered third on the beam with a 9.825. She finished with a total of six awards from the ECAC in her senior campaign. Teammate, Selena Swanger finished runner-up on the vault (9.625) as well as the all-around (38.6). Her performance in the all-around was a new career best. Additionally, she tied for third in the floor exercise with a mark of 9.675. Swanger gathered an ECAC honor for the second consecutive week. After garnering Gymnast of the Week, she was able to earn Coaches Choice this week for her performance against Ursinus. She garnered a pair of ECAC awards this season. West Chester will host the ECAC DII Championships on Saturday inside Hollinger Fieldhouse at noon.
