West Chester Blanks Slippery Rock, 4-0
CLERMONT, Fl. – Jr., Amanda Houck (6-2) (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley) registered a complete-game shutout for the Golden Rams as West Chester blanked Slippery Rock in the second game of the PFX games today, 4-0. Houck limited Slippery Rock (4-7) to only three hits this morning in seven innings of play. West Chester (11-5) provided its junior pitcher with three runs in the third off of four hits to take a 3-0 advantage. Sr., Sarah Walasavage (Minersville, Pa. / Minersville) registered a bunt single to get on base, then stole second to get into scoring position. Teammate, Sara Ercolani (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) singled through the left side to advance Walasavage to third. The biggest at-bat of the game came from Cat Hammer (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan), who delivered with a two-out triple down the left field line to score both Walasavage and Ercolani. So., Alyssa Herion (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) kept the inning alive by doubling to left center to drive in Hammer for the third run of the inning. The Golden Rams tacked on an insurance run the following inning to increase the lead to four. Emily Maseth (Westminster, Md. / Westminster) doubled and would later score off of a single to left field from Bri Garber (Willow Street, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg). The Golden Rams are now 5-2 at the PFX games with four games remaining. West Chester prepares for another doubleheader tomorrow, beginning with Franklin Pierce University at 3:30 p.m.
