West Chester Extends Streak to Six to Cap Off PFX Games; Houck Posts 11Ks

CLERMONT, Fl. – West Chester captured a victory in the finale against Edinboro to wrap up the PFX games on a six-game winning streak this morning, 5-1. The Golden Rams (15-5) finished with a 9-2 record at the PFX games down in the Sunshine State, while winning eight of their last nine. Jr., Amanda Houck (9-2) (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley) was masterful once again, striking out a career-high 11 batters in order to tally her eighth complete-game of the season. Her previous high of 10 transpired last season against Chestnut Hill. Houck kept Edinboro (7-6) off balance in the seven frames, limiting them to four total hits and one run. West Chester's Sarah Walasavage (Minersville, Pa. / Minersville) singled to the pitcher in the top of the first inning. Proceeded to steal second and later scored the first run of the game off an error. The Golden Rams did most of their damage in the fifth, accumulating four runs off of three hits and a trio of errors. Fr., Bri Garber (Willow Street, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) singled up the middle for a pair of RBIs, scoring teammates Madison Kelly (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) and Sarah Byham (Westampton, N.J. / Holy Cross). Finishing off the four run rally was catcher Cat Hammer (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan). She contributed a single to right field to put the game out of reach. Garber finished the day with a team-high three hits while tying Hammer for the lead with two RBIs. West Chester returns to action after its trip to Florida with a doubleheader against the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
