Ercolani Grabs PSAC’s Player of the Week Honors
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Jr., INF Sara Ercolani (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) registered her second consecutive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East player of the week award for her performance this past week. Ercolani posted a .421 batting average (8-19) with four runs and a team-high eight RBIs this week as West Chester (20-6) won five out of its six games. At the plate, she had two doubles, a triple, and a pair of home runs to go along with a .947 slugging percentage. In the field, she contributed 12 put outs and 11 assists. In the second game of the doubleheader against Wilmington, she played a pivotal role in an extra innings victory. She doubled in two runs in the top of the eighth that broke a 1-1 tie. She then came around in the ninth and singled home a run that made it 7-3 at the time. Ercolani was responsible for three of the six runs that West Chester scored in extra innings. The team has been on a roll as of late, taking 11 of their last 12 games. This marks the fourth honor of the season for West Chester from the PSAC. Amanda Houck has claimed it twice as well as Ercolani.
