West Chester’s Men Finish Third at Coaches Invite
CROFTON, Md. – West Chester University's men's golf claimed third-place in the Coaches Invitational Classic as the team shot a 919 to conclude the three rounds at the Crofton Country Club this afternoon. So., Tyler Maiman (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) produced a 72 in the final round, allowing him to be West Chester's top finisher on the course. The sophomore jumped six spots on the third day and a total of 19 spots altogether from the opening round. His efforts put him tied for sixth (226). Maiman previously hit his first hole-in-one yesterday in the second round to help him in those 19 spots leaped. Sr., Drew Patterson (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) placed tied for 10th, only trailing Maiman by a stroke in the final tally. Meanwhile, junior Connor Sharp (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) provided an overall score of 232, which tied him for 13th. So., John Abbott (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) finished tied for 19th with a 234 for the Golden Rams. Lastly, junior Chad Stine (Hershey, Pa./Lower Dauphin), competing unattached, shot a 77 in round three to finish tied for 16th with a 233. California (Pa.) won the tournament by shooting an 891. Coming in second was Mercyhurst with a 918, while West Chester registered third at 919 in the 10 team tournament. The team as a whole shot a 310 in round three to conclude the Classic. Men's golf heads to the Oglebay Intercollegiate next, which will take place at the Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, W.V. on Sunday.
