West Chester’s Men’s Track & Field Shine in Golden Ram Invitational
WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester's men's track and field team shined in the spring debut as they hosted the Golden Ram Invitational inside John A. Farrell Stadium on Saturday. Jr., DeShaun Pickett (Philadelphia, Pa.) claimed the top spots in the 100-meter (10.72) and 200-meter dash (21.67) for the Golden Rams. Finishing third in the 400-meter dash at 50.40 seconds was Ghassan Dix (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby). In the 800-meter run, Jim McDaid (Atlantic City, N.J./Mainline Regional) was slated first with a time of 1 minute, 56.84 seconds. Nick Angelina (Media, Pa. / Penncrest) produced a third place finish in the 1,500-meter run (4:20.96). Meanwhile, teammate Eric Chapman was clocked in second for the 5,000 meter run at 16 minutes, 2.04 seconds. For the 110 hurdles, Colin Vannicolo (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) (15.38) was second and Ryan Heimbach (Collegeville, Pa / Perkiomen Valley) (15.42) came in behind him for third. Sr., Shawn Young (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West), contributed a third place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (58.91). In the 4x400 meter relays, West Chester's relays were in the top five with "A" taking second and "B" being fourth. D'Andrew Gursay (Levittown, Pa./Conwell-Egan) was first in the triple jump by leaping 45 feet, 8.5 inches. West Chester's Bryce Sadler (Marietta, Pa./Donegal) was first in shot put with a toss of 44 feet, 9.5 inches. His teammate in Nick Robinson (Aston, Pa./Tatnall) earned the top spot as well in the discus throw at 136 feet, 8 inches. Lastly, Chris Mallee (Springfield, Pa. / Springfield) came away third with in the javelin throw (172 feet, 2 inches). There were a total of 20 teams competing with three teams outside of West Chester coming from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in Cheyney, Millersville, and Kutztown. West Chester travels to the Millersville next Saturday for the Millersville Metrics inside Biemesderfer Stadium.
