West Chester Slated Second in Latest NCBWA Atlantic Region Poll

BRIDGEPORT, WV. – West Chester University leaped into second place in the most recent National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) DII Atlantic Region poll, which was released Monday. West Chester (12-3, 4-0 PSAC) was fourth last week and jumped two spots due to a six-game winning streak, which includes a 4-game sweep of East Stroudsburg this past weekend. A main component of the teams' success came from senior reliever Josh McClain (3-0) (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock). McClain compiled a 3-0 record in relief this week, claiming three of the five victories for the Golden Rams. He went six strong innings with only three runs crossing the plate (two earned). The senior finished with a 3.00 ERA and accumulated eight and strikeouts. At the plate, West Chester's Drew Jarmuz (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) batted .368 (7-19) with a team-high 6 RBIs to go along with a slugging percentage of .684. Of those seven hits, three of which were doubles and one being a leadoff homerun in the top of the ninth on Friday to help down East Stroudsburg in game two. Millersville lost a pair of games to Kutztown, dropping them to third and allowing the Golden Rams to be slated above them. West Chester turns toward the road in its next matchup against non-conference opponent Wilmington University (Del.) on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
