Women’s Track and Field Flourishes at 34th Millersville Metrics

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – West Chester's women's track and field team flourished at the 34th Millersville Metrics inside Biemesderfer Stadium on Saturday. West Chester claimed four out of the top five spots in the 200-meter dash with Emily Magnant (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) slated first at 25.67 seconds. Alyson Hall (West Chester, Pa./East) earned second (25.97) followed by Caroline McLaughlin (Pottstown, Pa./Pope John Paul II) at 26.01 and freshman Lexi Ryan (King of Prussia, Pa. / Upper Merion) who registered fifth with a time of 26.25. Hall came away fourth in the 100-meter dash as well. More success came in the 400-meter dash with three members performing with top five finishes. Fr., Kate Woolam provided second (1:00.52) for the Golden Rams. DeJanee Fells (York, Pa. / Central York) produced third, while Emily Dusellier (Harleysville, Pa. / Souderton) was fifth. West Chester's "A" squad clocked a 48.83 to earn the top spot in the women's 4x100 meter relay. The team consisted of Jasmine Noble (Chalfont, Pa. / Central Bucks South), Alyson Hall (West Chester, Pa./East), Magnant, and Alexus Wike (Myerstown, Pa. / ELCO). Tallying a second place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase was Amanda Kodis (Garnet Valley, Pa. / Garnet Valley), who produced a time of 12 minutes, 10.47 seconds. Fr., Diana Dunn (Media, Pa./Penncrest) continues to make great strides by finishing fourth in the 5,000-meter run at 18 minutes, 43 seconds. She was also sixth in the 800-meter run (2:26.62). The 1,500-meter run had West Chester's Allison Lewis (Montrose, Pa. / Montrose) cross the finish line in second at 4 minutes, 55.68 seconds. Trailing Lewis was Laura Slavich (Havertown, Pa. / Haverford), who grabbed fourth three seconds later. Amanda Castellano (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) added a first place finish in the 400-meter hurdles by producing a 1:06.17. Meanwhile, Holly Szita (Allentown, Pa. / Salisbury) was second in the high jump with a leap of five feet, 2.25 inches. In the 100-meter hurdles, West Chester had three players finish in the top 10. Caroline DiJiosia (Plymouth Meeting, Pa. / Plymouth-Whitemarsh) placed fourth with a time of 15.72 seconds. Teammates Caroline McLaughlin and Taylor Pugh (Philadelphia, Pa./Milton Hershey) crossed the finish line for seventh and eighth. McLaughlin produced a 16.11, while Pugh arrived at 16.56. Pugh earned fourth in the triple jump at 36 feet, .25 inches. Katherine Lynch (Allentown, Pa. / Emmaus) provided fourth in the pole vault by achieving a score of 11 feet, 1.75 inches. In the javelin, Emily Field (Pottsville, Pa. / Nativity BVM) with a throw of 124 feet, 1 inch. Capping off the day were both West Chester's "A" and "B" squads, who earned first and second in the 4x400-meter relays. The "A" squad that made up of McLaughlin, Magnant, Dusellier, and Dara Lindsey obtained first at 3 minutes, 58.57 seconds. The "B" team consisted of Castellano, Fells, Lewis, and Slavich. West Chester returns home to John A. Farrell Stadium next as they host the two-day WCU Invitational, beginning on Friday at 3 p.m.
