West Chester Softball Ranked No. 22 in NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – West Chester has climbed its way into the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll for the first time this season, ranking 22nd in this week's poll that was released this morning. West Chester (24-6, 2-0 PSAC) has truly caught its stride, winning 15 out of its last 16 games which includes a pair of conference victories over East Stroudsburg on Monday. Jr., LHP (16-2) Amanda Houck (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley) has been lights out inside the circle, tossing 13 complete-games this season that includes a perfect game as well as a no-hitter. Over the course of 113.1 innings pitched, she has produced an 89-10 strikeout-to-walk ratio in addition to a 1.36 earned run average. At the plate, the Golden Rams have a pair of batters hitting over .400 in 30 games played this season. Leading the way is senior Sarah Walasavage (Minersville, Pa./ Minersville), who has accumulated a team-high in average (.422), runs (38), hits (43), and stolen bases (23). Meanwhile, junior Sara Ercolani (Downingtown, Pa./ Downingtown East) has provided a .402 average to go along with a team-best five homeruns. Ercolani is tied for the lead at 30 runs batted in. The NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll is voted on by 16 NCAA Division II head coaches with two representing each of the eight NCAA regions.
