Houck Continues To Pile On Honors
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Jr., LHP Amanda Houck (18-2) (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley) added her third Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Softball Pitcher of the Week award this season. Houck continues to dominate as No. 22 West Chester (27-7, 5-1 PSAC) won five of its six PSAC East match-ups. Of those five victories, Houck provided four of them with three coming way of complete-games. Overall, she appeared in all six games hurling 29 innings while only surrendering four earned runs for the Golden Rams. The lefty contributed a 22-2 strikeout-to-walk ratio as well. She began the week by tallying a pair of PSAC East victories against East Stroudsburg. In game one, the lefty tossed a complete-game with only one run crossing the plate. Houck came in relief during the second game for teammate Brooke Harner. She went 4.2 innings without surrendering a run. Later in the week, Houck tacked on another win by hurling a complete-game against Shippensburg for her 17th win of the season. She provided seven innings while giving up two runs (one earned). Lastly, she helped West Chester prevail in a sweep over Millersville. She threw a complete-game, allowing one unearned run in the first game while striking out six. Houck has now won three PSAC awards, a pair from the ECAC, and one from the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) National Pitcher of the Week.
