Men’s Track and Field Excels at WCU Invitational
WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester's men's track and field excelled as they hosted the WCU Invitational inside John A. Farrell Stadium on Saturday. Obtaining a PSAC qualifying mark as well as second place in the 1,500-meter was Josh Coakley (Honey Brook, Pa. / Twin Valley) at 4 minutes, 5.10 seconds. Jr., Colin McClusick (New Hope, Pa. / New Hope-Solebury) produced second in the 800-meter run at 1 minute, 58.65 seconds. Three members of West Chester's squad came away in the top five of the 5,000-meter run. Dylan Smiley registered first, while teammate Andrew Dombrowiecki (Ocean Township, NJ / Ocean Township) crossed the finish line a second later (16:03.10). Eric Savaresefinished fourth in the event with a time of 16 minutes, 7.37 seconds. Ryan Heimbach (Collegeville, Pa / Perkiomen Valley) added a second place finish in the 110-meter hurdles for the Golden Rams (15.68). Right behind him was Colin Vannicolo (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) at 15.75 seconds. Meanwhile, Shawn Young (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) contributed third in the 400-meter hurdles (58.76). The 4x400-meter relay resulted in West Chester's "A" team coming in second (3:25.81). The long jump provided three top five finishes today for the Golden Rams. Fr., Brady Thayer (Hanover, Pa. / South Western) received first with a leap of 21 feet, four inches. Joe Adighibe (Collegeville, Pa. / Perkiomen Valley) arrived in second, while D'Andrew Gursay (Levittown, Pa./Conwell-Egan) came away fifth. Gursay tallied second in the triple jump at 44 feet, 4.25 inches as well. Contributing fifth and sixth in the shot put were Bryce Sadler (Marietta, Pa./Donegal) (43'10") and Nick Robinson (Aston, Pa./Tatnall) (42' 3.5"). Sadler also produced third in the hammer with a toss of 141 feet, one inch. Lastly, Chris Mallee (Springfield, Pa. / Springfield) capped off the event with a a first-place throw in the javelin at 174 feet, one inch. West Chester has wrapped its home events for the spring and will head to Kutztown next for the Mondschein Multi's inside Andre Reed Stadium on Friday.
