West Chester Women Earn Five Wins at Widener Invitational
Widener Invitational Results CHESTER, Pa. – Despite the rain, West Chester's women's track and field team collected five first-place finishes at the Widener Invitational inside Leslie Quick Stadium Saturday. Jr., Caroline McLaughlin (Pottstown, Pa./Pope John Paul II) registered the top spot in the 400-meter with a time of 57.88 seconds. Her victory in the event places her ninth all-time in the program's history. Fellow junior Amanda Castellano (Hillsborough, N.J. / Hillsborough) brought home a win in the 400m hurdles, finishing at 1 minute, 4.50 seconds. In terms of the high jump, sophomore Holly Szita (Allentown, Pa. / Salisbury) was slated first in the event by leaping 5 feet, 5 inches. So., Emily Field (Pottsville, Pa. / Nativity BVM) gathered a victory in the javelin, throwing an impressive 122 feet, 8.75 inches. West Chester's 4x100m relay team also won (48.12), which consisted of Jasmine Noble (Chalfont, Pa. / Central Bucks South), Alyson Hall (West Chester, Pa./East), Emily Magnant (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham), and McLaughlin. Hall and Magnant also shined in the 100m, finishing third and sixth in the event. Hall clocked in a time of 12.57, which was only .03 away from second-place. Meanwhile, Magnant provided a time of 12.78 seconds. In the 200m, Amanda Hegarty (Morgantown, Pa. / Twin Valley) raced her to way to fifth and Hall was behind her in sixth. Fr., Diana Dunn (Media, Pa./Penncrest) clocked in a time of 4 minutes, 46.96 seconds to post seventh in the 1500m. Fellow freshman Kate Woolam tacked on a fourth-place finish in the 800m (2:16.67). In the 100m hurdles, Sarah Garner (Whitehall, Pa. / Whitehall) claimed fourth at 15.74. She also earned a fifth-place finish in the long jump. Teammate, Taylor Pugh (Philadelphia, Pa./Milton Hershey) posted a 15.63 in the hurdles for seventh, which was also a PSAC qualifier. She excelled in the triple jump by taking second at 37 feet, 3.75 inches. Amanda Kodis (Garnet Valley, Pa. / Garnet Valley) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase was sixth for the Golden Rams at 11:52.67. In the pole vault, Kate Lynch (Allentown, Pa. / Emmaus) contributed third at 9 feet, 8.5 inches. This was the last invitational for West Chester before PSAC Championships. The Championships are set for Thursday, May 4th inside Redman Stadium at Bloomsburg University.
