Houck Tabbed as PSAC East & ECAC DII Pitcher of the Week
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Jr., LHP Amanda Houck (27-3) (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley) produced her fifth Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Softball Pitcher of the Week award and fourth Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Pitcher of the Week honor for her record-setting performance this week. Houck collected four wins this week, which helped her break the school record for wins in a single season in addition to setting the school's career wins record with her 62nd and 63rd victories Sunday afternoon. The lefty has played a pivotal role this season as the Golden Rams clinched the PSAC Eastern Division crown for the fourth straight season this week. Houck accounted for 30 innings, while surrendering seven earned runs in the process. She hurled a pair of complete game victories against East Stroudsburg and Shippensburg. The junior suffered her only loss against Kutztown to Nierentz, after throwing eight scoreless innings and allowing two runs to score in the ninth. She also tallied 10 strikeouts for the Golden Rams. So far this season, she has provided a 1.14 ERA over the course of 202.2 innings this season. The junior has tallied 398 strikeouts thus far in her career, breaking the program record held by Devon Utterback as well. Her 159 this season is four shy of tying the single-season record. She was named co-pitcher of the week with Kutztown's ace Savannah Nierent in the PSAC. Houck has now won five PSAC awards, four from the ECAC, one for being the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) National Pitcher of the Week and was selected as a finalists for the 2017 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II National Player of the Year award.
