Vannicolo & Thayer Slated Second and Third in Multi’s After Day One of PSAC Outdoor Championship

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – West Chester's Colin Vannicolo (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) and Brady Thayer (Hanover, Pa. / South Western) are currently positioned second and third midway through the decathlon after the first day of the 2017 PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships inside Redman Stadium on the campus of Bloomsburg University. Five events of the decathlon were completed today in addition to the 10,000-meter run. Vannicolo, who finished in fifth last season is currently slated second with a total 3,443 points. The senior came away first in the 100-meter dash (11.34) as well as the high jump at 6 feet, 2.25 inches. He was also second in the 400-meter dash by clocking in a time of 50.90 seconds. Thayer on the other hand enters his first PSAC Outdoor Championship as a member of the Golden Rams. He produced third-place, right behind Vannicolo and has a total of 3,369 points after the five events. The freshman tied for second in the long jump by registering a leap of 22 feet, 0.25 inch. In terms of the shot put, the freshman was third with a toss of 37 feet, 1.75 inches. Sr., Andrew Dombrowiecki (Ocean Township, NJ / Ocean Township) provided 16th for the Golden Rams with a time of 33:55.71 in the 10,000-meter. Leading the way in the decathlon is Slippery Rock's Steven Girgash with a total of 3,523 points. Competition will continue tomorrow as the rest of the events get underway at the PSAC Outdoor Championships.
