Women’s Track & Field in the Middle of the Pack After Day One of PSAC Outdoor Championships

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – At the midway point of the women's heptathlon, West Chester's Sarah Garner (Whitehall, Pa. / Whitehall) is fifth, while teammate Caroline DiJiosia (Plymouth Meeting, Pa. / Plymouth-Whitemarsh) produced seventh after day one of the 2017 PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships inside Redman Stadium on the campus of Bloomsburg University. Four events of the heptathlon were completed today as well as the 10,000-meter run. Garner finished in fifth to start the first day, accumulating 2,540 points. She was third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.25. Meanwhile, DiJiosia is positioned seventh with a total of 2,499. She excelled in the 200-mter dash, crossing the finish line in a time of 26.60 for second-place. The sophomore also cracked the top five in the 100-meter hurdles by coming in fifth at 15.35. Fr., Danielle Sterner (Hanover, Pa. / New Oxford) is ranked 14th for the Golden Rams at 2,277. Both Sterner and Garner tied for eighth in the high jump at 4 feet, 10.25 inches. Competition will resume tomorrow as the rest of the events get underway at the PSAC Outdoor Championships.
