LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – No. 13 West Chester dropped this afternoon's rainy doubleheader to host Lock Haven by final scores of 8-7 and 5-1 at newly named Watkins Field. This was the first series that West Chester (31-9, 20-6 PSAC) has been swept in this season. In the opener, West Chester jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first two innings. However, Lock Haven (31-14,16-10 PSAC) would chip away by scoring seven runs over the next four innings to capture game one 8-7. Sr., OF Robert Knox (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Moreland) collected a career and season-high four hits in the opener. The senior went four-for-five, while also generating a game-high three runs being in the leadoff spot for the Golden Rams. Shortstop Nick Ward (Unionville, Pa./Unionville) provided a single and a pair of doubles to go three-for-four. Ward's double to left center in the fifth inning added two RBIs, but West Chester was not able to hold on. Jr., Shane Dressler (York Haven, Pa./Red Lion) contributed a two-run double as well. Jon Fisher (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) started the opener, giving up four earned runs over the span of four innings. Fisher would receive a no-decision as Joe Peluso (Doylestown, Pa. / LaSalle) surrendered a pair of unearned runs to drop game one. Self-inflicted errors hurt the Golden Rams as the squad committed four errors. Lock Haven limited West Chester to three hits in game two to defeat the Golden Rams, 5-1. Sr., RHP Eric Close (Berwyn, Pa./Haverford) gave up two earned runs through three innings. Accounting for one of the three hits was Knox, who gathered five hits between the pair of games.
