Men's Tennis Continues Competition at the ITA Atlantic Regionals
ERIE, Pa. – West Chester University's men's tennis squad continued competition at the ITA Atlantic Regionals inside the Pennbriar Racquet Club Saturday. Singles
West Chester's Lucas Von der Heyde (Exton, Pa./Great Valley) produced a victory in impressive fashion over West Liberty's Lynch, 8-1.
Teammate Norman Patten (Warminster, Pa./Council Rock South) fell to Bloomfield's Gud by scores of 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (5).
Sr., Charlie Rushing (Yardley, Pa. / Pennsbury) was unable to tally the victory, falling to Fairmont State's Pachane. Rushing had the lead, but ultimately lost 8-5.
Fr., Lucien DeCecco(Exton, Pa./ Downingtown East) provided a come from behind victory to beat Charleston's Phillips 8-6.
So., Adam Courtemanche (Greenville, RI / Smithfield) suffered a loss to Fairmont State's Higueras, 6-0, 6-2.
Fr., Gavin Kenny (Hanover, Pa./ South Western) dropped a tough one, falling 6-3, 6-0 to Mercyhurst's Sklyarov.
Lucas Von Der Heyde (Exton, Pa./Great Valley) played a tough match and was able to pick up a victory over Shepherd's Davis by a score of 8-6.
Doubles
The combination of Rushing and Patten captured an 8-2 victory, downing West Liberty's Lynch and Kirkwood.
Rushing and Patten produced their second victory, defeating Fairmont State's Alves and Higueras 8-6.
Meanwhile, Von der Heyde and Kenny suffered an 8-6 loss to Edinboro's McCoy and Santos.
Courtemanche and DeCecco also battled hard in day two earning the 8-6 victory over Charleston's LePetite and Phillips.
Next Up West Chester heads to the PSAC Individual Championships in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania on September, 30th at 9 a.m.
