Elder Named PSAC East Co-Offensive Athlete of the Week
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – For the third consecutive week, West Chester's offense has captured the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Offensive Athlete of the Week. Sr., RB Jarel Elder (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) earned the honor this week, but shared it with Lock Haven's Kyle Knight. Elder rushed for 149 yards and a pair of touchdowns in West Chester's 37-27 victory on the road over Shippensburg. His final TD run, a 63-yard scamper with four minutes left in the contest, put the game out of reach and secured the win. He averaged 4.8 yards per rush. He also caught two passes for four yards and returned a kickoff four yards to finish with 157 all-purpose yards in the game. This marks the third PSAC honor for the Golden Rams and the first for Elder in 2017. A.J. Long and Rasheem James were the others to claim the award. Overall, the team has won four honors as James took home the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Rookie of the Week as well.
