Men’s Soccer Remains Perfect in Conference Action; Clinched First in PSAC
WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Fr., F Doug Goitia (Mount Pocono, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) notched the game winner in the 81st minute to lift West Chester past visiting Shippensburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action, 1-0, inside Rockwell Field this afternoon. As a result, No. 12 West Chester (11-2-1, 9-0-0 PSAC) earned its first-ever regular season PSAC men's soccer championship. How it Happened
Goitia found the back of the net at the 80:12 for his fifth of the season to allow West Chester to remain perfect in PSAC action at 9-0-0.
Sr., F Max Adarkwah (Accra, Ghana / Phelps School (Pa.)) was credited with an assist on the play.
Sr., GK Matt Palmer (Bangor, Pa./Bangor) generated a saves in his sixth shutout victory of the season. His one save was a beauty, providing a diving effort to keep Shippensburg off the board.
Inside the Numbers
West Chester outshot Shippensburg by a large margin, managing a 15-2 advantage. In terms of shots on goal, the Golden Rams had a 5-1 edge over Shippensburg (6-7-2, 4-5-0 PSAC).
Shippensburg's Garret Watson made four saves for the Raiders, using his 6-4 frame to stop the Purple & Gold.
The Golden Rams lead in corner kicks at 7-1.
