Men’s Cross Country Gets Set for 2017 PSAC Championships on Saturday
WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester's men's cross country squad prepares for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships held on the campus of California University (Pa.) in California, Pennsylvania on Saturday. The women's 6k race starts at 10 a.m. while the men's 8k race is tabbed for 11 a.m. So., Dylan Smiley (Phoenixville, PA / Phoenixville) is a name to watch for as he scored seventh overall at the Lock Haven Invitational to register the best outing of the fall for the Golden Rams. Fellow sophomore Josh Coakley (Honey Brook, Pa./Twin Valley) was 11th overall in the Gettysburg Invitational, which occurred right before the PSAC Championships. Shippensburg won its second straight title last season, holding off Lock Haven for the crown. West Chester finished 14th in 2016 and the squad is prepared to take that next step and improve that score. The Road So Far West Chester claimed second at the Lehigh Invitational to begin the season with 41 points. From there, they cracked the top 10 in every invitational expect one. At the Division II/III Challenge, the Golden Rams were seventh out of 19 squads. In the Lock Haven Invitational, the team produced fifth. The final two meets before the PSACs were the Paul Short (14th) and Gettysburg Invitational (9th). Next Up On Saturday, Nov. 4th the Golden Rams travel to Lock Haven for the NCAA Atlantic Regional.
