Goitia Earns ECAC DII Rookie of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. - Fr., F Doug Goitia (Mount Pocono, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) tallied his first collegiate honor of his career, producing the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Rookie of the Week award. The honor was announced by that same organization this afternoon. Goitia provided the game winner for No. 12 West Chester in the 81st minute to defeat visiting Shippensburg, 1-0. The freshman's effort allowed the Golden Rams to earn its first-ever regular season PSAC men's soccer championship. The Mount Pocono native also helped West Chester defeat Slippery Rock to improve to 12-2-1 and a perfect 10-0-0 in conference action. This was the second honor of the season for West Chester. The other honor was awarded to Tyler Rapposelli (Reading, Pa./ Fleetwood) earlier in the season for ECAC Offensive Player of the Week. West Chester's men's soccer team ranks second in the Division II Atlantic Region.
